WVAPT Member Meeting Report

  • Membership voted to create a student board member- membership voted to elect Alecia Allen to student board member position.

  • Membership voted Stephanie Majetich to become President Elect.

  • Membership voted Misti Cutlip to become Treasurer Elect.

  • Non-Members were informed of the benefits of membership, and information on how to become a member was shared.

  • Three new members joined as a result of the informational portion of the membership meeting.

We would like to welcome our newest Board Member Bob Noone and new member interest Beth Hughes Noone! We look forward to playing together!

November 2015 Board Meeting Report

  • National Conference report: Contact was made with possible speaker to move forward on board agreed upon plan to divide 2015 conference regionally.  Save the date for the 33rd APT Annual Conference - Oct. 4-9, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky!  Proposals will be accepted beginning December 15, 2015. 
  • Treasurer’s report indicates financial status remains stable.
  • Plans for increasing membership and revenue were developed to provide several mini trainings to promote Play Therapy and provide Play Therapy CEU's.
  • Plan implemented to provide introduction to play therapy training to increase awareness, interest, and knowledge of play therapy.
  • Since board approved the plan in September, three introductory to play therapy training have been offered to increase revenue and membership during the months of September, October, and November. 


  • Plan implemented to increase membership and revenue is successful thus far. Over 70 professionals have attended the trainings and revenue was increased.


  • Board has decided to promote the training to be presented in other geographical areas of the state. (Possibly Martinsburg, Morgantown, Charleston, and Beckley areas.) Locations for trainings are being explored.
  • Board plans to meet, discuss, and develop, time line for completing tax exempt status forms at meeting December 12, 2015.


  • Task group will review time line and develop strategy for completing 501c6 following December 12, 2015 board meeting.


  • Timeline and strategy was developed on December 12, 2015 with completion date of January 8, 2016.
  • Still seeking Social Media Consultant from membership or the board to assist with maintaining website and the Facebook.
  • WVAPT president presented training at WV Counseling Association 2015 Fall Conference in Flatwoods, WV on Thursday October 1, 2015.
  • Wvapt president will present training at WV LPC Conference at Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown WV Friday April 29, 2016.
  • Play Therapy was in the news during October, watch for the video to be posted!
  • WVAPT Conference possible dates identified. Board agreed to pursue spring conference location in Morgantown.
  • We are currently seeking WVAPT Spring Conference Speakers. If you have any recommendations please contact us via email at
